Dr. Michael Hansen's research interests include the economics of education, applied microeconomics, and labor economics. He has completed research on value-added measurement, district-level contract choice for teachers, and national board certification and license testing for teachers. He holds an Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Washington.

Dr. Umut Özek’s research focuses on school choice reforms with emphasis on open enrollment programs, investigating the empirical aspects of such programs by analyzing their impact on households’ public school choice behavior and student outcomes as well as the theoretical aspect by evaluating different assignment mechanisms that are commonly used to implement these programs. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Florida.
